Brazil gang takes nine hostages after failed robbery
Some 200 policemen in
southern Brazil are chasing an armed gang that has taken nine hostages
with them after a failed attempt to rob a jewellery factory.
The alleged leader of the gang, Elisandro Falcao, and two other men were killed in a shootout with police. He was the most wanted man in Rio Grande do Sul state.
The criminal gang specialised in the use of explosives to rob banks, cash point machines and shops in the region.
"Our top priority is to make sure we rescue the hostages alive," said state governor Tarso Genro.
Police officers are searching the forests and rural areas around the city of Cotipora, where the jewellery factory is located.
Other policemen from an elite force have been deployed in other cities across the state.
The heavily-armed gang began its attempted heist in Cotipora at 02:00 local time (04:00 GMT) .
Police had been tipped off of a possible robbery in the area, and reacted quickly. Two officers were hurt in the shootout.
The surviving gang members escaped, taking local residents - including a child - as hostages.

Whitney Houston Might Have Been Murdered By Drug Dealers
A rape victim in India is believed to have committed suicide
after police took 14 days to register her case and a further 30 days to
make an arrest.
It is believed the teenage girl was kidnapped from Baras village in the Patiala district of Punjab during Diwali on November 13, by two men.
She was then taken to the nearby village of Brahamanmajra where she is alleged to have been drugged and repeatedly raped in a well
It came as the Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh responded to days of violent protest at the attack by promising better action to protect the nation's women.
Her family said despite reporting the attack it took two weeks for police to take any action.
The victim's older sister told India Today she had lost hope the case would be brought to justice when she suffered intimidation from the accused.
She said the victim had approached the police at Badshahpur village: 'On some occasions, the policemen would take her to the police station in late evening hours. They would seek her to narrate the incident. They also tried to force her to withdraw her complaint.'
She said the accused men had threatened the family too and all had been forced to go into hiding at another family member's house at Samana - a town near Patiala - on November 29. However, the accused intimidated them there too.
It is believed the girl 'consumed poison' at around 5pm on Boxing Day before she was rushed to Rajindera Hospital at Patiala, but she died later that night.
It is believed the accused men were named in a 'suicide note' left by the girl.
Patiala police are believed to have now ordered an investigation and said police would be 'dismissed from their job if negligence was proved'.

China approves tighter rules on internet access
Hundreds of millions of people in China use the internet, although its content is closely monitored by the authorities
But critics believe the government is trying to limit freedom of speech.
The announcement will be seen as evidence China's new leadership is targeting the internet as a threat.
In recent months, the internet and social media have been used to orchestrate mass protests and a number of corrupt Communist Party officials have been exposed by individuals posting criticisms on the internet.
The Chinese authorities closely monitor internet content that crosses its borders and regularly block sensitive stories through use of what is known as the Great Firewall of China.
However, it has not stopped hundreds of millions of Chinese using the internet, many of them using micro-blogging sites to complain or campaign on issues of national interest, including government corruption.
'Safeguards' The new measures now formally require anyone signing agreements to access the internet, fixed-line telephone and mobile devices to provide network service operators with "genuine identification information", known as real-name registration, Xinhua reports.
Real-name registration was supposed to be have been implemented in 2011 but was not widely enforced.
China's biggest internet firm, Sina Corp, warned earlier this year in a public document that such a move would "severely reduce" traffic to its hugely-successful micro-blogging site Weibo.
Under the new rules, network service providers will also be required to "instantly stop the transmission of illegal information once it is spotted" by deleting the posts and saving the records "before reporting to supervisory authorities".
The measures, to "ensure internet information security, safeguard the lawful rights and interests of citizens... and safeguard national security and social public interests", were approved China's top legislature at the closing session of a five-day meeting on Friday, Xinhua reports.
The calls for tighter controls of the internet have been led by state media, which said that rumours spread on the web could harm the public and sow chaos and confusion.

Lionel Messi Ends 2012 With 91 Goals
FC Barcelona player Lionel Messi has polished off his record year with his 91st and final goal of 2012 in Barcelona’s 3-1 win at Valladolid on Saturday, December 22, 2012
He is confirmed to have scored his 91st goals of the year with 79 goals for Barcelona: 59 in the Spanish league, 13 in the Champions League, five in the Copa Del Rey and two in the Spanish Super Cup.
He had 12 for Argentina; five in World Cup qualifiers and seven in friendly matches.
Messi scored his 91st goal in the 59th minute by dribbling between a defender’s legs before making it 2-0 after Xavi Hernandez had opened the scoring two minutes before halftime, in a victory the team dedicated to their ailing coach Tito Villanova.

Fontella Bass, US soul singer of Rescue Me, dies at 72
She had been in poor health for much of the past seven years.
Rescue Me reached the top of the R&B charts in 1965 and is one of the best known soul songs. It has been covered by many artists.
Fontella Bass had a powerful voice and a background steeped in music.
Her mother was gospel singer Martha Bass, one of the Clara Ward Singers and Fontella Bass began performing at a young age, singing in her church's choir at the age of six.
Like many of her generation, she graduated to soul and R&B in the 60s, signing to Chess Records.
She first found success in a duet with Bobby McClure on Don't Mess Up a Good Thing and You'll Miss Me (When I'm Gone).
She co-wrote Rescue Me, a song her daughter Neuka Mitchell said "held a special place in her heart".
But it took years of legal battles for her to receive full royalty rights to the song. A final settlement was reached more than 20 years after the song was first released.
Ms Mitchell said her mother was an outgoing person. "She had a very big personality. Any room she entered, she just lit the room up, whether she was on stage or just going out to eat."
Fontella Bass was married to the great jazz trumpeter, Lester Bowie, who was her musical director.
She died in the city where she was born, St Louis, Missouri.

Fight Against Boko Haram Is To Kill Muslims– Ahmad Gumi
A controversial Nigerian Islamic cleric, Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Gumi has described the military campaign against Boko Haram terrorists as a camouflage by Nigerian Christians to wipe out muslims in Nigeria.
Gumi also interpreted the death of Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna state as an intervention by “God Almighty”, to stop the Christian agenda to kill Muslims in Kaduna state, similar as he claimed, to the way ‘muslims have been devoured in Maiduguri”. Yakowa was a Christian, who has now been succeeded by his muslim deputy, Mukhtar Yero.
Dr Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi: controversial comments
The comments were posted on Gumi’s Facebook page on Boxing Day.
The commentary was titled: “Why the Evil of terror may linger’.
Although Gumi described Boko Haram elements as misguided youths, engaged in a campaign of terror that runs against Islamic injunction, he said that the bigger terror, “is that evil that camouflage behind the ‘government’s security agencies’ to kill innocent people either to perpetuate power or score some political goals”.
“For instance in Nigeria we have seen how some Christian elements in the Nigerian security apparatus have been killers of innocent Muslims leaders for political reasons. Such elements are deadlier evil than Boko Haram. They aimed to destroy the Muslims as a whole by decapitating their leadership thus exposing the Ummah to perpetual subservience. That is why, Ababakar Tafawa Balewa, Sardauna, Akintola, and Gen Murtala all went victims of these terrorists.
“These similar terrorists are still the ones now that are supposedly ‘leading’ the war against terror or war against Boko Haram. It is a double edged sword for them. Kill Muslim leaders and kill the youth at the same time all under camouflage. They are entrenched in the security apparatus. They are retiring good Muslims in the armed forces to enable them perfect their evil plans they started since 1966. They think they are in control because they are blinded by hate, rancor and evil, they cannot see that their evil is exposed and evident. They cannot see that Allah Has taken up the fight against them since their intentions are evil. Kaduna was meant to be devoured like Maiduguri when Allah The Al-mighty struck,” he said.
His full commentary is reproduced here.
WHY THE EVIL OF TERROR MAY LINGER
Any entity that employs unauthorized killing as a principle in achieving whatever goal it aspires is EVIL. Henceforth it is evident that the evil of terror is not confined to a small group of fanatical Muslims youth that employ the tools of terror to achieve their goals or revenge any perceived injustice against them or against Muslims as they claim. The Evil of terror is bigger and greater than that. The Evil of terror knows no boundary, religious, ethnic or racial. Evil killers are found everywhere.
For the Muslims, we are very fortunate that only a small fraction of misguided youth have recently adopted this evil ideology. Islam has seriously condemned the unauthorized killing of souls. The authority in Islam only belongs to a government duly elected by the consensus of the Ummah. We therefore see that except for very few instances, Muslims do not commit murder. The rampant murder committed in the west, is as a result of the irreligious life the west has adopted and bears little with the clamor of gun control. In Yemen, the populace is armed yet such murders are not an occurrence because Islam instills in the individual the discipline of self-restrain and control and forbids taking of one’s life and that of the others too. This cannot be said about the other religions.
The more deadly evil, is that evil that camouflage behind the ‘government’s security agencies’ to kill innocent people either to perpetuate power or score some political goals. For instance in Nigeria we have seen how some Christian elements in the Nigerian security apparatus have been killers of innocent Muslims leaders for political reasons.

They cannot see that Allah Has taken up the fight against them since their intentions are evil. Kaduna was meant to be devoured like Maiduguri when Allah The Al-mighty struck.
They cannot see that you don’t guaranty your life by killing others; you do that by giving life to others. They fantasize that they can keep power by evil machinations whereas power belongs to Allah. Nigeria can only know peace and stability when such evil elements of the security apparatus are flushed out of the system instead of the good diligent officers. This is the deadliest segment that has been neglected and the public should know and watch. Evil will never prosper.
May Allah protect us all from all Evil.

Bankole Solomon Criticizes Pastor Adeboye Over Politicians
A former pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Bankole Solomon, has criticized the General Overseer of the church, Pastor E A Adeboye, for allowing politicians into their annual RCCG Holy Ghost congress.
This is Bankole Solomon's full statement:
"I know this post will attract a sharp condemnation because I worship in RCCG and I was once a pastor before I resigned voluntarily because of rights violations in the name of religion. I resigned in December 2010 but I am still worshiping there as an ordinary member. So, whatever I have here is without prejudice.
"Holy ghost congress of our great church is now a political congress where all shades of corrupt leaders will mount our altar to fool Nigerians on what they will do.
"Holy Ghost congress is now a supermarket where all kinds of people like charlatans and political opportunist come shopping turning God to father Christmas to give them end of the year bonus.

"Jonathan was even there turning our once sacred altar to political podium talking deceitfully and indirectly campaigning for 2015. My question is this? On what ground was president Jonathan allowed to speak to people. Is he a pastor? Because the gathering is purely a spiritual gathering and event.
"I've been a pastor in Redeemed for the past 10 years and I've not got any opportunity to sit on that altar not to talk of holding mic. If because Jonathan is a President and he is recognized, it means some are more equal than others.
"Immediately I left camp on Saturday morning, I looked at the camp very well because I know that would be the last time I will set my foot to that Eagle Square called Redeemed camp."
WHAT DO YOU THINK? DO YOU AGREE WITH BANKOLE?

Nigeria To Develop MOU With Cameroon On Ladgo Dam - Official
Nigeria is prepared to develop a Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU) with Cameroon on the management of water from Ladgo dam, an
official told the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday.
The official at the Federal Ministry of Water Resources told NAN in Abuja that the technical mission to Cameroon on the issue of Ladgo dam would visit the country between Thursday and Friday to discuss modalities for managing water resources.
NAN recalls that unregulated water released from Ladgo dam located 50km south of the City of Garoua on the Benue River caused huge flooding in Nigeria in September.
The official said the visit would create an avenue for the two countries to discuss how the water resources of the Benue basin should be managed in a sustainable and less disastrous manner.
“What informed the decision to visit Cameroon is as a result of the September floods. One of the causes of the floods apart from excessive rainfall was the unregulated release of water from Ladgo dam.
“What we are going to do with the visit is to establish a bilateral cooperation that will lead to sustainable management of water resources of the Benue Basin.
“We are going there in preparation for the rainy season so that people will not say that Nigeria is not prepared in case of any re-occurrence of floods.
“We are going there with a draft copy of MOU on how to achieve sustainable management of the water resources,’’ the official said.
According to the official, Cameroon has set up a team of experts which has also prepared an MOU for the same purpose.
The official said the MOUs from the two countries would be presented at the meeting, adding that if the parties agreed on the issues raised, it would be signed.
In addition, the official said the visit would also provide an avenue to discuss possible collaboration on the safety and management of Lake Nyos.
Lake Nyos lies close to the axis of the Cameroon volcanic line, which extends 1,500km from the Gulf of Guinea through south-western Cameroon and into northern Nigeria and northern Cameroon.
The UN Environment Programme and Office of the Human Affairs commissioned a study on the lake in September 2005 and the findings indicated that Lake Nyos might collapse within five to 10 years.
The imminent collapse of the lake will send over 30 million cubic metres (MCM) of water into Katsina Ala River in Nigeria all the way down through Benue and Niger River systems.
However, the Federal Government has commenced the construction of Kasmbilla dam, designed to serve as a buffer dam to avert the danger posed by Lake Nyos in Cameroon.
The dam project located in Taraba, is expected to be completed in 2013.

Total, French Embassy To Give Scholarships To 5 Nigerians Each Year
Total Plc. and the Embassy of France in Nigeria have
initiated a joint scholarship scheme to sponsor the training of five
Nigerians abroad every year.
A statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by Mr Charles Ebereonwu, the Manager (External Communication) of Total, said that the scheme was part of the company’s efforts to contribute to the development of the country’s education sector.
It noted that the Joint Scholarship Scheme (‘TQJS’) titled "Total E &P Nigeria Ltd. (TEPNG) /Quai d’ Orsay" would take effect from the 2012/2013 academic session.
The statement, however, said that the pilot stage of the scheme had commenced this year with one candidate sponsored to study international law in France.
It stressed that the agreement for the training was signed by Mr Guy Maurice, the Managing Director of TEPNG, and Amb. Jacques Champagne de Labriolle, the French Ambassador to Nigeria.
The statement quoted de Labriolle as saying that the scheme was based on the need to contribute to the training of Nigerians in different fields, while commending Total for contributing to the development of the Nigerian society.
It also quoted Maurice as saying that the initiative was a reflection of the company's confidence in the country and a continuation of what it had been doing in the past.
"The agreement makes provision for a four-man steering committee to manage the scheme on behalf of the parties and each of the international scholarship is worth about 54,000 Euros," Maurice said in the statement.
Total has been collaborating with top-rated institutions across the world, as part of its human capacity development efforts.
It is also the main sponsor of the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS), a post-graduate institute at the University of Port Harcourt, managed in collaboration with the prestigious Institute France du Petrole (IFP) in France..

Police On Top Of Crime Situation In Zamfara - CP
Mr Usman Gwary, the Commissioner of Police in Zamfara, has
assured the people that the police command is on top of the crime
situation in the state, regardless of the recent killings in some areas.
He gave the assurance in Gusau at a news conference held on Tuesday
over the spate of killings by gunmen in some parts of the state. Gwary
stressed that the command had been working to ensure that normalcy
returned to the affected areas, where gunmen killed 10 vigilantes.
"We have been strategising and putting our intelligence gathering together but you know we cannot make some of our plans public so as not to jeopardise our operations. Just two days ago, I deployed three pick-up vans with heavily-armed mobile and regular policemen to the troubled area on Zurmi-Katsina Road. They will continue to mount surveillance there until we are certain that there is no more problem," - he said.
"We are hopeful that the gunmen, who attacked and killed 10 members of the vigilance group, will soon be arrested and this is based on our intelligence gathering," - he added.
The police chief appealed to the people to assist the police with useful information about suspected movements of criminals even before they perpetrated their crime "so that the police can quickly move in and tackle the situation".
Gwary, however, lamented that some criminal hideouts in the state were difficult to penetrate by the police because of the dearth of access roads and communications network in such areas.
"It will be suicidal to insist that the police should go and make arrests in such hideouts when they do not know the areas the way the criminals do,’’ - he added.
Besides, Malam Muhammadu, the Ward Head of the Tudun Wada area of Gusau, said that he would soon begin a house-to-house search of single expectant mothers, as part of efforts to tackle the growing menace of abandoned babies in the neighbourhood. Muhammadu said that a newborn was abandoned near a toilet soak-away on Tuesday.
"The incidence of abandoned babies, many of whom were found dead, has now become common in this area and it is very worrisome to us. The latest one was discovered early today by a Qur’anic school pupil, while the mother could have given birth to the baby at the location, as there were blood stains and parts of the placenta in the area,’’ - he said.
There were about 10 cases of abandoned babies in the area within the last one year. It is planned to collaborate with elders in the area in efforts to identify pregnant single ladies, adding that the police would also be duly informed about the ladies to facilitate their monitoring until childbirth. Parents were urged to give their children proper upbringing so as to tackle the growing menace of unwanted pregnancies.

Osaze Faces Life Ban From Super Eagles Over Recent Comments
West Bromwich Albion striker Osaze
Odemwingie faces being banned from playing for Nigeria for life after
his recent outburst during which he criticized the authorities for not
inviting him for the impending African Cup of Nations.
Unhappy at being left out of the provisional 32-man squad that will begin camping in Faro this week, Osaze lashed out at head coach Stephen Keshi and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). Osaze had said that Keshi has no footballing reasons not to invite him to camp and criticized the way he found out about being dropped via the media rather than from the coach himself.
One top NFF official responded by saying that Osaze would not be allowed to go unpunished for insulting the NFF, Keshi and Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo. He added that Osaze took matters too far with his outburst on Twitter and as such must pay for his actions.
According to NFF sources, Osaze's case will now be referred to the federation's disciplinary committee to investigate and make recommendations to the executive committee for the next line of action. He added: “Who does Osaze think he is that makes him think that he can abuse everybody and go unpunished?
“Well, he may think he does not need us because he also holds a European Union passport but we shall make a statement with the action we will take against him. We are 100 per cent in support of Keshi because we know he picked his team without any ill-feelings.”
Osaze meanwhile has conceded that being dropped from the Nations Cup squad effectively ends his international career. He added that it is just as well he was not invited to the Faro camp, as it is not ideal to play for a coach who does not want him.
“It is clear now that my days with the Super Eagles are over as I expected to be left out of the ANC squad because we have had a few issues before. I played a very good 10 years from 2002 to 2012 but I don't want to be with a coach who doesn’t want me.
“I still love my country and care about the football but I already wasn't feeling the way I would have liked to feel. Last month I spoke with Keshi because I didn’t play in a few games with the national team and he said my body language didn't show that I wanted to play for the team but body language for the Nigerian coach is that you have to be calling him all the time and greeting him but for me football is an official thing,” Osaze added.
Pointing out that he is no sycophant, Osaze said: “You invite a player and he comes. I don't have to be like his son, calling every day and asking how are you, sir? I'm not that type of person. They take it as arrogance but my mentality is different.”
Osaze will now channel all his energies towards helping Albion sustain their top-six push in the Barclays Premier League. He is also expecting his first child any minute from now and not being in camp, he will be able to be present when his wife gives birth.

Ngozi Nwosu: N4.5m Still Needed To Save Her Life
Nigeriafilms.com can authoritatively report that the 'Save Ngozi
Nwosu Campaign' to get the life of Nollywood veteran actress, Ngozi
Nwosu, back to her good days is yet to achieve any meaningful result as
enough amount of money needed for the campaign has not been realised.
Sources handling the campaign informed us that about N1.5million has been realised at the moment which is still N4.5million less of the N6million needed to save Ngozi's life, which we learnt is presently hanging on the balance.
We learnt that though some good Samaritans have been responding to the call to save the ailing actress from dying, much is still expected from others and her colleagues especially to get the needed N6million urgently because the doctors claim she has to be flown abroad quickly to make her get back to her glorious days soon.
Her account details is given below

Nicki Minaj's Flashy Outfit(PHOTOS)
Follow @TersoMusiC
With every Christmas gift opened and unwrapped Nicki Minaj was clearly raring to show off her new presents to the world. The Super Bass rapper showed off her ample cleavage as she stepped out on Christmas Day evening in a very revealing catsuit.
Nicki, 30, was the guest of honour as she was attending her own festive
party which was held at Webster Hall in New York City. The star made
sure that she was centre of attention by wearing the extremely low-cut
black ensemble with some feisty shoulder pads at the event. Nicki had
her chest on show as she arrived at the Christmas Extravaganza, and was
quite happy to show off her low cut outfit.
The rapper was fairly close to having a wardrobe malfunction as her small and tight outfit was in serious danger of failing to hold her chest together. Luckily, the Trinidad and Tobago born artist escaped the embarrassment of a nipple slip and made her way into the party escorted by her entourage. Nicki, who was sporting a sleek bob, teamed the catsuit with a thick black belt and a large pair of red and black sunglasses. The Christmas Extravaganza is not the only party Minaj has put her name to as earlier this month, it was revealed that she would be hosting a New Year's Eve celebration at PURE nightclub, in Las Vegas. According to PURE's website: "The rapper, songwriter and television personality will throw a boisterous party as she leads the countdown to midnight and celebrates with partygoers at Las Vegas' top mega-club."

Gunmen Kill US Returnee In Enugu
A US returnee, Ogbo Edoga, was shot in his home town at Aku, Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State on Wednesday.According to the report the economist went to the house of one of his
kinsmen, from where the two assailants, accosted him and shot him at
point blank. He reportedly died before reaching the hospital.
Family sources said the deceased returned to Nigeria to attend a meeting of Nsukka professionals based in United States, geared towards raising funds for the construction of an ultra-modern medical diagnosis centre to be built at Ede Oballa community in the area.
Eye witnesses said the killers had asked the deceased "Where is the money?" But the soft spoken Financial economist reportedly knelt down, begging his assailants to spare his life, only for one of them, said to have been armed with an AK 47 rifle, to release several shots around his waist after forcefully snatching his waist band. The assassins were said to have escaped in a car belonging to a retired senior officer of State Security Service SSS who was passing by.
The incident, threw Aku community into pandemonium, disrupting programmes lined-up for the day, which included a reception for an indigenous priest and the dedication of a structure built by the deceased’s twin sister’s husband. Following this development, security has heightened in the area, as a combined team of military men and policemen have mounted surveillance and patrol all over the area in search of the killers.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in-charge of Nsukka zone, Ros Hamson Aladu, who confirmed the incident, described it as assassination. He urged all returnees in the area to quickly apply for police protection.

Mandela Still In Hospital, No News Of Discharge
South Africa’s anti-apartheid hero
Nelson Mandela remained in hospital on Wednesday, a spokesman said,
almost three weeks after he was admitted for treatment for a recurring
lung infection.
The 94-year-old former leader was visited on Christmas Day by his wife Graca and other family members along with President Jacob Zuma, who said Mandela was “looking much better” and “in good spirits”.
Zuma’s spokesman Mac Maharaj, who was a political prisoner with Mandela during his detention on Robben Island, said there were “no new updates” on his condition, adding that he “remains as he was yesterday”.
Maharaj refused to be drawn on when the Nobel Peace laureate would be discharged.
Mandela’s grandson Mandla told a local television station that the family was sad he had not been able to join them on Christmas Day.
“We are greatly saddened by his absence… we didn’t anticipate that he would be away for so long,” Mandla said from Mvezo village, where he is the local chief.
Mandela was admitted to a Pretoria hospital on December 8, after being flown from his rural home in Qunu in the south of the country.
He also underwent surgery to remove gallstones during his hospital stay, his longest since coming out of prison in 1990 after 27 years in detention.
Messages of support and prayers for the recovery of the much loved icon have been pouring in from all over the country.

“My Mum Almost Killed Me!” – Wizkid, Others Share Most Memorable Christmas Celebrations
Here's what some Nigerian celebrities and media personalities have to say about their most memorable Christmas!
Adaora Mbelu, Producer: "December 2010. In the Spirit of Christmas, I decided to do something different – get a few friends together, leave our worries and work stress at the door, and enjoy an evening of fun, laughter, and honest friendship. The summary was something like this:
1. If you intend to spend your entire Christmas Eve on BB Messenger, please don’t bother showing up. We will have a Blackberry Radar up to measure the amount of BB usage from each person’s phone.
2. We’ll sign release forms, permitting usage of your image. The camera will be snapping away.
3. Please bring something. It can be anything really. If your contribution is 10 Packets of Chupa Chups, Ribena, Plantain Chips, ANYTHING, that’s fine.
4. 10 -15 people maximum (If you bring a friend, be prepared to feed them o! – so, carry extra food in your pocket, or they’ll sit down and watch us eat)
5. Drinks: Leave your liver at home, there’s no 911 Ambulance service in this country o!
6. We’ll try to keep the games as Civil and PG (Parental Guidance) rated as possible. Keyword: try.
7. We’ll have a freestyle session, and everyone has to do something creative, so start practicing now (sing, Rap, Dance, Recite Poetry, Act). If you’re singing, feel free to bring your instrumental CD along.
8. A sleep over pass will be granted to interested individuals. However, Saturday morning is church o! So all sleep-over people have to vacate at 8.30 am or go to church with me. Your choice!"
Tomi Odunsi, Actress: "Oh dear. I have had a lot of Christmases I cannot forget in a hurry but I think the ones I miss the most are from when I was very young. I remember wearing new clothes even down to my panties. I looked forward to Christmas because that’s the day my mum surprised us with beautiful things, clothes and all sorts of gifts. We would run around in our new clothes and almost sleep in them. Sometimes I wish I could re-live those moments. Now I imagine a fun Christmas in a destination location but Christmas as a kid was the absolute best."
Toni Tones, Fashion photographer/Editor: "I look forward to Christmas every year. It’s a very special holiday. The way it smells, the gifts, (especially the gifts) and you can literally feel care and love in the air. Each year I have a different sort of experience that makes each Christmas mighty special, whether I’m out of the country or somewhere in my village. Some years however are more dramatic than the others, some are quite mellow too but I think my most memorable ones are the ones I spent chilled at home with family. Not doing anything really other than just being in the same space, laughing, and living, talking, loving and basically enjoying the moment. And I think that’s what Christmas is about."

Google App Is Offensive And Racist
The maker of a Google app thinks it's fun to make yourself
look Asian by changing the shape of your eyes and wearing a Fu Manchu
mustache and rice paddy hat. Or you could be a Native American with brown skin, war paint and a feather headband.
"This is just a fun app that lets you indulge you and your friends,"- says the description of the "Make Me Asian" app created by user KimberyDeiss and available on Google Play. There are also photo-altering apps including "Make Me Old" and "Make Me Fat", "Make Me Russian" and "Make Me Irish" which play off stereotypes.
"You can for a few seconds to make yourself a Chinese, Japanese, Korean or any other Asians," - the description says.
Not amusing or cute, say Asian-American organizations that launched a petition to get Google to remove both apps. The apps use dated and racist stereotypes of Asians and Native Americans, said the online campaign 18 Million Rising, named after the number of Asian-Americans in the United States.
"These racist and offensive portrayals of Asians and Native Americans perpetuate damaging racial stereotypes and should not be distributed on the Google play store," - said the campaign, which has an online petition to remove the apps.
Google, however, said the apps are not in violation of the company's policies that protect against hate speech.
"We don't comment on individual apps. We remove apps from Google Play that violate our policies," - Google said in a statement.
But the furor in the Asian-American community, sparked a few weeks ago, is growing. Blogs, including Angry Asian Man, have reinforced the call to remove the apps.
Washington pastor Peter Chin decided to mount an even larger protest on the website Change.org. Chin said he understood Google's motto is "Don't be evil." That makes it hard to fathom why the company would support these apps, he said. This is the first time Chin has protested in this way. He was prompted to act, he said, because Google refused to do so.
"Google normalizes everything from Google maps, Gmail," - he said. "If you want to search for something on the Internet, you even say "to Google it."
Chin feared Google's power would make people think the apps were OK. He wants Google users to know that the stereotypes in the apps have been used to marginalize and discriminate against people.
"I wanted to make sure this app isn’t given a pass of approval. It's not cool," - he said.

Gunmen Attack ECWA Church During Christmas Service, 6 Dead
Gunmen attacked a church in northern Nigeria during a midnight mass on Christmas Eve, killing six people including the pastor, before setting the building ablaze, residents and police said Tuesday.
“A group of gunmen came into the village at midnight and went straight to the church,” said Usman Mansir, a resident of Peri village near Potiskum, the economic capital of Yobe state.
“They opened fire on them, killing the pastor and five worshippers. They then set fire to the church,” he added, specifying that a branch of the Evangelical Church of West Africa (ECWA) was targetted.
A senior police official in Yobe confirmed the details to AFP, but declined to be named.
Yobe police chief Sanusi Rufa’i said “this is a security issue” and refused to comment further.
Boko Haram Islamists have carried out several attacks in Yobe, which borders the state of Maiduguri, where the insurgent group is based.
The Islamists are blamed for killing hundreds of people in northern Nigeria since 2009. It was not clear who was behind the latest violence.
While Yobe’s population is overwhelmingly Muslim, the commercial hub of Potiskum has a significant Christian minority. Peri is just two kilometres outside the city.

Why My Administration Seems Slow – Jonathan confesses
President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday said the apparent slowness of his administration in deciding on major national issues was to avoid costly mistakes..
Jonathan, at a Christmas Service held at the Cathedral Church of The Advent, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja, said experience had shown him that when rushing to take decisions, serious mistakes could be made.
Reading the second lesson of the service, the President said he would not because of the public perception that his administration was slow begin to rush decision-making process.
He however assured Nigerians that when issues that needed fast decisions arose, his administration would rise up to the occasion like it did during the recent flood disasters in many parts of the country.
Jonathan said, “Sometimes, people say this government is slow. Yes, by human thinking, we are slow, but I can say that we are not slow.
“Government must think things properly before it acts. When you don’t think through things properly, or when you rush, you will make mistakes. It is more difficult to correct errors. You can ask those who build houses.
“Government will not, because of the perception, begin to rush. But where we are required to act very fast, we will do so, just like we did during the recent flood disasters.”
He assured Nigerians that his administration would not retrace any of the steps taken towards “laying a solid foundation for the nation’s transformation.”
Jonathan said he would work hard to ensure that “the successes” so far recorded in the agricultural sector, transport and electoral process were sustained.
Speaking on his administration’s transformation agenda, the President said it was arrived at after a full day debate ahead of the declaration of his presidential ambition in 2010.
Jonathan, who said no nation could be properly transformed without reformed citizenry, stated that the church had a great role to play in making the transformation agenda a success.
He said, “You can’t transform a country without the people being reformed. I call on the church to come up with programmes on how Nigerians can be reformed.
“People play politics with things that affect their own lives. That is why somebody will vandalise power equipment in order to ensure that power reform fails. Such people need to be reformed.”
He assured Nigerians that he was committed to keeping faith with all the promises he made during electioneering.
The President said Nigerians’ orientation must change, adding that the change must reflect in the way they thought and did things.
In his sermon, the Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Revd. Nicholas Okoh, urged all religious, traditional and political leaders to emulate Jesus Christ whom he said had the masses at the centre of his agenda.
“The ordinary people should continue to be the subject of leaders’ agenda because God takes interest in the poor. Emphasis of leadership is the poor, the downtrodden. Their welfare and relief must occupy the agenda of (our) leaders,” he said.
The Primate said Christians must learn to embrace peace, even amidst the provocation that might come with the violence witnessed in the country.
He said, “There must be peace between man and man, especially in this country.
“We are labouring and praying for peace. Tit for tat is not recommended for the various killings in the country because Christians are peace bearers.
“Irrespective of the provocation, we must promote peace. It is also a solution to tribalism that has affected us and caused chaos.”
He commended the Federal Government on its cassava revolution, rice production and railway rehabilitation.
Okoh expressed the hope that in the coming year Nigeria would witness perfect security.
Shortly after the service which was also attended by the President’s wife, Patience; his mother, Eunice, other members of his family and top government officials, Jonathan played host to Christians who paid him visits at the Presidential Villa.
The visitors were led by Vice-President Namadi Sambo and his wife, Amina.
Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Cardinal John Onayeikan, in his remarks at the reception, urged Nigerians to be closer to one another and to relate more with God.
Sambo and the Minister of State, Federal Capital Authority, Jumoke Akinjide, later presented Christmas cards to the President.
In his vote of thanks, Jonathan said his administration would continue to grow the economy in the New Year.
